No More! White Money

No More! White Money is a participatory performance about money, art and power. Six collaborating artists from India, Nigeria, Russia, the Netherlands and Germany attempt to expose the neo-colonial structure of contemporary art funding.

In this performance, the artists observe the flow of white money from European funding institutions to artists around the world. White money dictates aesthetics, access and mobility for artists within and outside Europe – and this performance would not exist without white money.

"Do we sell ourselves, our ideas and our aesthetics to the discourse determined by a random jury or the new director of an art institution? How do we co-create, acknowledge our unequal positions in the world and our complicity with white money? In No More! White Money we enter the playing field together with the audience and invent new rules of the game. Playfully we dissect the strings attached to white money and patiently make each visa application our own. The temperature on stage drops, the energy bills rise, the algorithms deepen the gaps and we must now redistribute our wealth. Are you ready to say goodbye to your white money? For the sake of art?"

“Overall, ‘No More! White Money’ is an evening that hurts in crucial moments in a fruitful (and often humorous) way—because it is true.”
